We´re open again: Schlüters (Pizza and More), Cafeteria Studierendenhaus, Cafeteria Harburg, Café Student Affairs, Café Finkenau, Café CFEL, Café-Shop Geomatikum, PizzaBar Harburg, Café BLS now open for guests and delicious to-go in Café-Shop Blueberry, CampusCafé, Foodtruck, Café insgrüne Botanischer Garten and Café am Mittelweg. All other refectories are currently closed.

Additional services for single parents

Single parents in need can request an additional benefit (in accordance with § 21 Para. 3 SGB II (German Social Code)) of 155,52 € if they live with a child under seven or with two or three children under 16 (or 51,84 € with a child over seven) and are solely responsible for looking after and raising the child. Persons in need are deemed as those earning an income just above the requirement in German Social Code Volume II (standard rate plus appropriate rent including heating). See information on § 27 SGB II (see 27 - Leistungen für Auszubildende).

Additional benefits cannot be used by students with a residency permit as per § 16 of the German Residence Act!

Applications are lodged at the local job centre. Persons residing in Hamburg can find their job centre here, everyone else can find theirs here.

Madame Courage - A project to help single parents who are studying

Single parents and pregnant students who are enrolled at the University of Hamburg may apply in their final year of study for funding by Madame Courage. Amount and duration of support will be determined individually. Scholarship holders are eligible for up to two semesters, up to the maximum amount of the German law on higher education grants (BAföG).

Georg-Panzram school-book allowance for single parents due to complete their studies

Every two years, the Student Union grants up to 500 Euros in school-book allowances from the Georg Panzram estate.

Eligible students are those who
• are the single parent of at least one child
• are enrolled at a Hamburg university

• are in the final stages of their first degree.
