Schedule and costs
The flexible care is offered from 08:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The care schedule comprises at least two and a maximum of twentyfive hours per week.
Care costs with public funding
Since the winter semester 2013/14, there has been a flexible child daycare centre within easy reach of the college. The publicly subsidised daycare is free for up to 30 hours a week for children from birth until they begin school. As with the daycare in normal daycare centres, parents must pay for whatever care exceeds the subsidised time allowed. How much they have to pay depends on their income, the size of the family and the extent of the care. The exact calculation is made by the daycare administration.
In order to receive public funding, you need to lodge an application at your local Tagespflegebörse (day-care exchange). Find out where this is by clicking here. If approved, you will receive a funding notice stating the duration and costs of the care.
You can calculate the expected costs beforehand here.
You must then submit the funding notice to the Studierendenwerk Hamburg to ensure care at the CampusNest Harburg can start promptly.
Care costs without public funding
In some cases, your local Tagespflegebörse may not allow public funding. If so, the care can be provided without it. Please contact the co-ordinator for flexible care options (see below for contact details) to discuss financing.
Short-term (emergency) care
If you want to participate in special events such as evening or weekend university events, conferences or advanced training courses, prepare for an exam, or sit an exam, or if your usual care arrangement has fallen through, you can rely on the short-term (emergency) care offered by the CampusNest. It can also be used for one-off care or occasional care to bridge gaps before or after your usual care arrangement.
The fees charged for this are based on reservation of a two-hour care block. If more than one care block is required, higher costs will be charged accordingly.
Reservation of a two-hour block:
Students: € 6 per block
University staff: € 10 per block
The student rate only applies upon presentation of student ID/proof of enrolment.
